Oh gosh!! It has been a while since I discovered this, and I gotta write about this!!
One day, I was craving for peanut butter and decided to buy one from Shop N Save near the house. As I was walking down the aisle, the own brand one came to my attention. Being a budget me, I decided to buy this. Well, I thought, quality should be ok compared to the branded one. When I was in the UK, I used to buy the own Sainburys or Asda brand’s peanut butter and they tasted gorgeous. So this one should be ok too.

the innocent looking peanut butter
^^^^^^
For some odd reason, I had decided to look at the ingredients of the peanut butter.
This is what I found.

Yeah, the peanut butter that is made of peanuts
DUH!!!! Peanut butter of course is made up of peanuts!!! Why the reminder?? I understand this message is put across to those who are allergic to peanuts. But for peanut butter?!
I was so amused about this that, I couldn’t help grinning about it everytime I reached out for it for my breakfast. hahah…what a good way to cheer up my day!
PS: too bad it don’t taste as great.

I did not realise how much we has adopted our working style and language till N told me this. After a day work, N has arranged to meet with her friends in Orchard. It was a Saturday night and there are loads of people waiting for taxi. So she decided to try her luck instead at the departure hall.
The next day, she told me what has happened.
Me: So, did you enjoy yourself yesterday?
N: Oh yah! Lucky I went up to departure hall and got a taxi almost immediately. Then the taxi landed in Orchard Road and I was offloaded.
hahahah……OK~~ I can’t imagine taxi landing like a plane in Orchard!!

Following a conversation with my colleague one day about Singapore’s slangs of ‘lor’ and ‘leh’
^^^^^^
He: I don’t understand why such slang exists in Singapore
Me: well, it is part of the local culture and does represent punctuation marks of one sentence in a certain way.
He: oh really?? U know what happen?
Me: what?
This is what happened. He is talking to friend X one day about what X has been doing.
He: What have you been doing?
X: study lor
He: woah…that is impressive!
X: ???
He: I mean do u get to work in any of the Law firms?
X: SIAO AH? I never study Law how to work in Law firm????
He: (confused) but I thought you just say you study law (lor)??
X: ….
^^^^^^
hehe…..never know such little misunderstanding can occur!! So be careful next time when speaking to non-singaporean!

This happened in real life.
There are certain people who loves to exaggerate and show off. Well, it is pretty normal. I’m not trying to make a mickey out of this particular joke, but to show off in an extravagant manner is a bit too much!
Take this example. My aunt’s neighbour loves to exaggerate. But sometimes she exaggerates just too much! I was not there at that time, but I heard my parents was there in my aunt’s place to talk about the trip they went to Japan nearly 10 years ago. This particular neighbour was there at the same time. So this is how it went.
^^^^^^
Aunt: woah…such a long time already we last been to Japan
Mum: yah lo….nearly 10 years already! But it was better last time than now. I just came back and things now so expensive blah blah blah
Neighbour heard it and join in the conversation.
Neighbour: woah…you also just come ah! I also just been to Japan
Mum: oh really? that is nice, a pity didn’t see you there. Exactly when did you go?
Neighbour: I went last week, and I took 3 hours bus from Malaysia to Japan! Woah..so tiring!
Mum and Aunt: !!!!!!!!!!
^^^^^^
Me after hearing this: *sweat*, *amused*
^^^^^^
ahahahaha……O…h….m…y….g…o….d! oh pls! Even if you want to exaggerate, then do it within limits! Really, I would like to nominate her in the Guinness World Book record! To be the first person to be able to travel by bus at the shortest time to Japan from Malaysia!

Tomorrow is V Day and obviously most of the attached ones will be celebrating it.
As one of our friends on both personal and business level, B came to our place. He asked my dad about how to celebrate V Day.
^^^^^^
B: hey Mr. N, how are you celebrating V day? Would you be buying flowers for Mrs. N?
Dad: No, I never buy flowers
B: aiyah….make this year the exception la..(blah blah blah)
Dad: No need la…so many years already like that lo
B: should buy one…
Dad: well, in my WHOLE life, I only buy flowers for offering to my gods. Even have blessing from them man!
We: ??!!
Ahahaha….my dad ah…really a joker, can’t imagine he can think of such!
^^^^^^
However, to think about it, my parents rarely, in fact never celebrate V Day in their years of marriage and yet, their love still stay strong. I don’t imply anything else here, but I just marvel at them, that they never celebrate it at all.
Talking about commericalised V Day goodies(chocolates, flowers, posh dinners etc)…though it is nice to pamper your loved one with those nice stuffs (yeah…a thought that counts), but they can get so expensive! What a rip off!
My ideal V day? A day by the beach, sitting next to each other and watch the sunset.
Every day can be V day with constant care, concern and love from my loved one (in the future). Flowers? yeah….once a while, but not necessary on Vday. Why waste so much money for the same thing on V day? Don’t really wanna burn a hole in my loved one’s pocket la~
Still, Happy V day to all lovers out there!
